Dydoe Piercing Aftercare

A dydoe is a piercing that goes through the outer rim of the glans, where the glans and the shaft meet. The dydoe, like other genital piercings, has a rather long healing time. It can take up to six months to heal, depending on how well the aftercare instructions are followed along with other factors. The type of body jewelry primarily used in the dydoe is a curved barbell.

First of all, choose a professional piercing studio. Genital Piercings could be very complicated and dangerous.

When you find your piercing artist,

Allow the piercer to shave with clippers (if necessary) and disinfect the shaft of your intimate area. They should use an alcohol swab or other disinfectant.

Be prepared for pain - this make a few seconds or minutes

Before the piercing, eat a lot of fruits and drink a lot of water.

Don't be drunk or under drugs - This won't make you feel better or the piercing - painless.

The proper aftercare includes:

Wash the pierced area twice a day with a mild liquid antibacterial soap. The best time to clean genital piercings is during shower. During this time, you can adequately place lather and rinse the piercing. Excess cleaning may irritate the piercing hence don’t clean the piercing very often until it is exposed to bodily fluids, sweat or dirt.

Use some ointment for genital piercing, recommended by your piercing artist.

The healing time for male genital piercing is about 2 months to 12 months. Refrain from sexual activity for two weeks. Following that, wear a condom for six months during intercourse.

Remove any crust that may have formed around the jewelry using a cotton swab and warm water prior to rotating the jewelry. Never use fingernails.
Avoid touching the piercing with dirty hands because they may trigger infection. You must wash your hands thoroughly with anti bacterial soap before touching the piercing or the jewelry.
Saline solution is best for cleaning the new piercing. Use sea salt solution or rock salt solution for cleaning the solution.

Do not allow the piercing to come in contact with other person’s bodily fluids (includes saliva or semen) during the process of healing. You must use appropriate barriers like a dental dam or a condom. You must not experience pain during the sexual intercourse.
