Exclusive interview with Antonio Proietti 14/06/2010 


Q: How long have you been tattooing?
A: I started tattooing in 2006.I tried to experiment color tattoos on skin.

Q: Do you remember the firs experience with tattoos?
A: I do!!! It's was a underage girl, just 16 and it was a butterfly on her belly!

Q: Have you ever tattooed yourself?
A: No, never but I guess I will.

Q: How long did you apprentice?
A: My apprenticeship was about a year ... making stars, tribal and letters, boring but useful to get precise line.

     

Q: Why tattooing? Is that a good way to express your talent for arts, maybe yourself?
A: I worked for 10 years in one of the most important sacred art shop when we painted in museums, churches and cathedrals, then I felt that I had try to express myself with other techniques, so I started with sculpture, airbrush ... I said to myself why not in the tattoo? So here we are!

Q: Who are your influences?
A: There is not one artist in particular, but I was impressed by the skill of many ... when I see tattoos made with technical details and nuances such as Joshua Carlton for the sharpness of the color and nuance pile or Nikko for color impact...

         

Q: Do you enjoy in your work?
A: Yes I do, especially when I can do some my paintings and drawings on skin.

Q: Who is your favorite tattoo style?
A: My favorite style is what I can managed to get through my experience with painting, and extreme realism...

Q: In which one you can express your ideas the most?
A: Certainly in realism , reproducing even the smallest details, capturing the soul in the eyes of the faces I draw and then do that on skin.

             

Q: Is the talent relevant for tattoos or is the good tattoo the result of a lot of experience?
A: I think the talent is essential in any art as well as the artistic experience if you want to propose something new and innovative ...

Q: What is your biggest inspiration for your drawings?
A: I take my inspiration from the whole history of art, from oldest to most contemporary art, from Caravaggio to Dali.

                  

Q: Is there anything you`d like to work, despite tattooing?
A: I like to spend my free time and my day off with my wife, my muse, to invent and create artistic ideas with different materials, doing silver jewelry, mosaics...

Q: Who are your best tips for choosing the "right" artist or a good tattoo?
A: Always be clear, be sure and give the right space to tattoo.

Q: Can you tell us about your plans and needs about tattooing. Things that you would like to do and have not done yet?
A: I recently had the opportunity to make several projects, one of most important to publish my book about technique for make realistic tattoo, asked by clients who attended my seminars, and also I have done exhibitions of my paintings in the conventions in the conventions to make me known as a painter, and presented portraits of very famous people in the tattoo world, Phil Kyle, Miky Vialetto, Kat Von D.
